Every operation needs your confirmation

From old work to an archive
you can keep.

That “quick experiment” left a conversation, a few images, and a reason to keep them. Choose what happens next.

  1. Find the right work.

Filter by date, inactivity, or project directory. Exclude folders you want to leave alone, then select individual chats or images.

  2. Review what’s included.

Inspect each selection, its source catalog, and the backup destination. Verified Guardian reviews stay with their parent chat.

  3. Confirm the next step.

Keep a backup, or back up and remove local copies. Conversation cleanup starts only after all selected backups verify.

Keep the history
behind the conversation.

Keep the prompts, plans, and saved history worth revisiting. Selected chats and verified Guardian reviews travel together in a portable archive.

Your conversation archiveA portable bundle for later inspection
  • Selected conversation data and saved history
  • Linked Guardian reviews with original IDs
  • Available session files and included assets
  • A manifest and verification receipt

Backups are read back and checked before conversation cleanup begins.

Know which version you’re viewing.

Current and older catalogs stay separate. Inspect their original records and recorded Codex versions without mixing old copies into current chats.

Give generated images their own pass.

The Images tab shows discovered files, locations, and sizes. Choose what to back up or remove, with a separate review before you commit.

Use the storage you already have.

Choose a local folder, external drive, or mounted network share. Conversation archives are compressed; unchanged, verified backups can be reused.

A few useful details.

V1 focuses on selected backups and deliberate cleanup of your local Codex work.

Does it delete anything automatically?

No. You select the items, review the plan, and confirm. Removal also requires typing REMOVE. Codex must be closed before local cleanup; backup-only can run while Codex is open.

What counts as inactive?

Conversation inactivity uses the latest update to the chat or a linked Guardian review. Images use file modification time. Simply opening a chat or viewing an image is not tracked.

What if some conversation history is missing?

The review flags missing payloads or unsupported cleanup cases. Available records can still be backed up, but the app does not claim to recover content that is no longer in your local storage.

Can I put an archived chat back into Codex?

Archives preserve original records and available files. A recovery tool can reconstruct them in a separate folder for inspection. Automatic re-import into the live Codex app is not included in v1.

How much disk space will cleanup recover?

It depends on the files and database format. Eligible files are removed, and supported databases reclaim free pages. Other databases retain those pages for reuse. The app reports what it could reclaim.

When can I download it?

Coming soon. The public release date, pricing, and distribution details have not been announced. The download and Mac App Store entries on this page are availability placeholders.
